Whites are deficient of due to their evolutionary lineage being in an enviroment with less present and less intense sunlight to absorb vitamin D quicker via having less melanin to block the rays. Aliens are supposed to be technologically superior. Melanin is a function of a primitive enviroment in which the population is outside often (not inside working on technology, via scientists in labs AWAY from the sunlight). The technology is directly related to a controlled enviroment (via inside, away from the sun).

Evolution is simply the adaptability to the enviroment. Whites have lighter skin to absorb vitamin D from the sun quicker because they evolved in a climate with less sunlight and less intensity of it. Just like how we need more sunlight to get Vitamin D (about 1.5 hours a day in the sun) or we'll be vitamin D deficient and our bones will be weak.
