Remember, this is the 1930s, where you had 2 of the biggest black artists

Then you had black people of that time say "Bu bu bu bu bu these stars had to c00n, it was the only way Black people could get on TV!!!! They were pioneers!!"

But somehow you had this movie that no one talks about....

Made by a Black director, who also wrote screenplays and produced :wow:

Oscar Micheaux. Breh made 40 + movies

While you had black people writing, directing, and producing content... but somehow that wasn't enough. As the saying goes, "The white man's ice was colder". Why couldn't more black actors care about staring in more all black movies?

If white people don't love it or are not watching it, then Black people don't care. Which is why we go head over heels for Oscar and Grammy nominations, and look down at all black awards`

Lot more complicated than you might think.
xoxodede posed a great documentary here which discusses Black American film history.
