90's were more ground breaking you had rappers that came with all different styles. Most the nikkaz in the 80' s were ABC rapping until NWA fukked shyt up.

Weither you want to like it or not the 2010's ushered in a new way on how to rap and the artist are more vulnerable then they were in the 80's. 808s and heartbreaks broke that ground.

A lot of those 90s styles originated in the 80s. Slick Rick, Rakim, Kane, and Kool G. Rap were influential for an entire generation of rappers. They didn't just come from nowhere. There was a basis for everything.

Hip hop was already evolving at a rapid pace by the time N.W.A. came out. That's why Public Enemy changed their sound completely with It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back because their first album was already dated when it came out. It's why Run-D.M.C.'s follow-up to Raising Hell (Tougher Than Leather) suffered because it came out a year later than it was supposed to. And it's why rap's golden age is generally considered to have started in the late 1980s because of the constant innovations and turnover happening around that time.

808's was impactful, but it didn't change the way people rapped. Since 2010, Hip Hop has been dominated by trap beats and triplet flows. Kanye had neither going on on 808's. In that regard, Ross's Teflon Don, Waka's Flockaveli, and Migos have been more influential.

In terms of classics, I'd say OutKast has more of a solid argument for 5 classics than Kanye West.

Might have the best discography when you include his collab/producer role albums in there too.

But it’s trendy to only say negative shyt about his career at the moment.
:mjpls:You see it too
