All these all star games should have been left behind in the 1900s. They serve no point anymore.

So little effort the last few years might as well sit them down and make this a live 2k tournament.

Hell I'd do something like

Team USA
Team Canada
Team Europe
:childplease: y'all ain't even medal. Now you want your own team? Scust

As for all-star games, MLB for the most part figured out what to do and what not to do after they fukked up (although I low key see them reverting back to some shyt). They do a good job at least putting the week together.

NHL has done a very good job this year. Part of that involves stuff out of their control. Is this gonna continue next year when the Olympics happen? We'll see.

NFL gave up and realized that people will show up to watch football player do a fraction of what they do, so lean into it.

the NBA doesn't wanna give up this weekend, but it's become NBA-Con. You put up commercials, sell sneakers, discuss your legacies with legends, and maybe play a lil hoops. The last part is the issue. God forbid you're really good but just not good enough to deal with this weekend. Some all-stars are jealous.

The irony is that they play harder in meaningless pickup after the season during what is supposed to be their break.
Offseason pickup games aren't in the middle of an 82 game season and they serve the purpose of keeping players in shape and helping them work on their craft.

These guys don't see any benefit of playing hard in exhibition game while they're preparing for a playoff push.

Should be held in major cities in Europe or Saudi/Qatar/UAE for global PR.

Y’all complain too much about this shyt. Times and people change, they are exhibition games that have nothing to do with the season (except where home filed has been attached). You lose nothing by not watching. If the leagues start losing money on these events, then they’ll stop. Until then, stop watching and stfu and let them keep throwing shyt at the wall to see if anything sticks.

Maybe not it's not needed in the NFL and NBA, but it's certainly needed in MLB and NHL.

Don't watch NHL but I do watch MLB and MLB has very few national stars, watching their ASG gives me an general idea of what the best players are in the league.

Nearly all of the most popular athletes in North American sports is ethier NBA or NFL athletes :heh:

Thread shoulda ended here.

But since it didn’t….

Yeah. The All-Star Game of any league is for regular people. Casuals. Normies. And there’s more of them than not.
Everybody isn’t like the (*sigh*) ColiBreh, who knows the WAR of every position on each team who would make the playoffs if the playoffs started today.
I guarantee there were people who watched the ASG and wondered why KAT was on the East squad.

But notice this thread is made after the NBA ASG. Basketball is the most player-focused of the Big 4 sports.
Baseball and Football are tribal AF, most people mainly know their teams and don’t really follow other teams like that.
The ASGs are times for those people to get familiar with who else they should watch - especially those that have it mid-season.

sure he has

name the games he put effort

:heh:

notice how you bunch in KD and Steph when I didn't even mention them. Steph puts in effort.
All of them since he’s essentially been a captain for the past 5-6 years

2020, and 2022 were the standouts. I know you and others don’t actually watch the games, so look them up

That’s a middle finger to every fan. I can’t wait til the league bans the players from participating in the drew league etc
