There’s a very clear problem with the people who argue that advanced stats are “cac shyt”

They cannot explain in any way how advanced metrics favor 1 player over another. Whether it’s a white guy a black guy or anyone.

To a large degree, advanced analytics confirm public opinion. For example, Michael Jordan ranks near the top of almost every advanced statistic ever created.

Jokic is great. Whether you delve into the numbers or not, you know it.

Analytics support it and they gives you more context. That’s all it is.

But these people get angry because the stats they think USED to matter the most, no longer do because we recognize how flawed they are.

It’s like the morons who still think Wins matter in baseball more than FIP.

I think it’s complex, bc the methodology of advanced stats isn’t some complex thing that only whites can understand——which is how it can come across——instead, I think it’s called cacalytics bc it’s used predominantly by white fans who never played or were not good at all.

Also, there is an underlying ‘they’ve got it all wrong and these are the guys who play the right way’ type of nasty dog whistle. I post on Reddit and that enrgy is VERY true.

So you can’t really accept cacalytics without legitimizing those people. Ultimately I agree with the take that advanced stats just validate public opinion. But I’m not into leading with them.
