I'm trying to think if Steve Young falls under that category, cuz majority of West Coast system QBs stay throwing wadded paper.

Before? Dink and dunk has been a thing forever.

And btw the first "dink and dunk" QB would probably have to be Virgil Carter as the West Coast Offense is the first offense that implemented short, easy, lateral passes to move the ball in lieu of a running game. Ken Anderson and Joe Montana after that. Before that the Gillman and Croyell offenses were high risk, downfield passing attacks.

Joe Montana was the first name I thought of.

Nah, Steve Young was on another level. He used the West Coast system but he was making all sorts of throws with his arms and was a demon with his legs too. Low key Young > Montana, he just didn't have the advantage of coming through when the West Coast Offense was so new and other teams hadn't figured it out yet.

Joe wasn't dink and dunk though. His yard per attempt is pretty good all time.
