I respect the players of generations ago, but how on earth are people saying the Packers? Probably more than half of the players being mentioned were born before 1940 and played before (and after) the merger.

They are not holding a candle to the 49er's for this thread. I don't see where it's really debatable with those two teams. I think the 49er's are multiple tiers above.

They were my pick until I saw their WR options: :hhh:

Exactly. I just think of the teams that don't have all-time great WR's and/or QB's, and they are automatically eliminated. The only thing keeping the Ravens up there outside of their defense is Lamar, as Henry doesn't count right now. I guess you could say Jamal Lewis as well, but the WR options.........yikes!

I'm not saying they'd be the best, but I think the Buccaneers can be up there too. They don't have the best WR's, but Evans/Jackson/Galloway/Godwin isn't terrible.

And, they have an absurd defensive-line with Sapp, Rice, McCoy, and Selmon. Then they have Brooks/David/Nickerson at LB with Barber and Lynch in the secondary.

That front seven in absurd.

That Niners defense would be outrageous,

Deion & Ronnie Lott at their peaks in the secondary

Bosa, Justin Smith, Stubblefield, and Haley on the line

The linebacker core of the Harbaugh era (Willis, Bowman, maybe someone else I'm forgetting)

1st team All-Pros & DPOY's all over the damn field

Yeah, it's them and I don't really see the argument against them. You have arguably the two greatest WR's in NFL history along with a QB that was considered the GOAT until Brady came along, and their second string QB is a two time NFL MVP. :pachaha: .

With this criteria.

Players are judged on their ability, relative to their peers and era. So, a 250 lb HOF lineman from the 1970s would be on equal footing with a similarly dominant 300 lb lineman from the 1990s. That should balance out the recency bias and account for the modern advantages players have.

If we go by that criteria... Don Hutson basically was to WR as Steph was to 3pt.

Vikings putting belt to ass against any defense, especially any secondary

Moss, Jettas, Cris Carter is unstoppable. Plus you can throw in Adam Thielen, Jake Reed, Anthony Carter, Percy Marvin, Stefon Diggs, Ahmad Rashad

Nobody fukking with that receiver room
