It seems to depend on age. A lot of single women by their 30s who’ve been burned in relationships or situationships start believing “casual sex benefits men” or realize they can’t move like men and separate sex from emotions and it undermines their ability to connect with a good man if they’re still hooking up with their ex. At a minimum most seem to slow down by their 30s when they’re single. Monthly, every other month, quarterly or even after several months. You start hearing a lot more single women in their early 30s talk about not having had sex for months.

I think a health mindset would be to assume anyone that you are interested in is actively dating other people.

I wouldn't start assuming about their sexual activities. Why drive yourself crazy with fantasy? It's pretty easy to see what time people are on. People really aren't great actors.

Actively dating others keeps you from fixating on one person and over developing expectations. It's healthy and means that person isn't choosing from desperation.

It also means that if the time comes you actually FEEL CHOSEN which I think means more to us as people then we will admit.

It's one thing to just be the person who is convenient and available. It's a completely different feeling to know "This person has options and they choose me above all the others."

That's a special feeling we all want. Wanting someone to choose from a place of deprivation robs you of that feeling.

Creating stories about people in your head is the quickest way to kill a connection.
