I think you are attempting to conflate your personal experience as the status quo.
Most blacks I went to with at a PWI were interested in having good grades, celebrating their blackness, then either going off to grad school or landing a big job In ATL, NY, DC or Chicago.
I guess the question here is what do you mean by fitting in with white people?
I went to a PWI as well....
Ummm, meaning liberalism.
Thinking all these social issues are more important than the economic issues facing the black community.
E.G, not understanding how illegal immigration has a huge impact on the black working class.
WashingtonPost.com: The Case Against Immigration
* Aggressive civil rights programs to benefit the descendants of slavery have been watered down, co-opted, and undermined be- cause of the unanticipated volume of new immigration. A nearlyŠ half-century march of economic progress for black Americans has been halted and turned back.
And instead of really trying to understand this, spewing the same tired lines that upper class whites spew "americans don't want those jobs" when the truth is americans can't have those jobs anymore because they won't be slaves for them....
Thinking that the only reason working class black are having issues is because they didn't try hard enough to go to college....
Do explain what the hell "celebrating their blackness" is?
