I keep telling cats, "with the first pick in the all-time NBA draft, X team selects, Stephen Curry" is not a long shot at all. Dude is possibly the best ever to step on a court.
You have one of the best, most skilled scorers of all-time and one of the most egotistical saying he's never seen anything like this.
Don't miss enjoying watching a once-in-a-lifetime player due to stupid stan wars.
Nah he'd most likely go top 10, but he's just not good enough defensively. You have to consider all the guys who can score as much as him, not as easily or in as many ways but still get you 25-30 a game, and at the same time completely dominate defensively, on the boards, as a facilitator etc. Dude's a PG and only averages 6.9 apg for his career, and 6.6 apg this season. I know that's solid, but it's not elite.
I mean think about dudes like Wilt, Shaq, Larry Bird, Magic, Lebron, Bill Russell, Kareem, obviously Jordan. If Steph could legitimately go number 1 in an all-time NBA draft then Westbrook would be in that conversation too, and he's not. This season Curry's averaging 29.8 ppg, 6.6 apg, and 5.3 rpg, meanwhile Westbrook is averaging 24.1 ppg, 10 apg, and 7.6 rpg. Looking at that confirms to me that he's not in the conversation for #1 draft pick in an all-time NBA draft. You'd find GMs who would take Westbrook over Curry right now.
Plus it still remains to be seen how long Steph's prime lasts. What if he only has a 3-4 year run as a truly elite player? Everything changes at that point. And with his physical makeup that's a legitimate possibility. By 30-31 he very well may be little more than a spot up shooter. I hope that's not the case, but it's very possible.
