Could be.. I've been down before and had to work 2 jobs to get back up. His situation is nowhere near uncommon.
Into and having debt are two different things.
I don't think having debt is uncommon to anyone. Having no money and being unable to pay creditors back is a different story.
Average American credit card balance is $6,000. Car loan maybe another $20,000. Might have $20,000 in student loans and boom he's there.
