Just bought a dryer vent cleaning kit going to pick it up from home Depot.
I can attach it to my drill and clean it in seconds

Talking about the vent not the tray. My tray was clean. But lint was still like there.

This is true where I work but only in the hood/less income areas. In the higher class areas, firefighters are more keen to preserve property if they can.

Damn, sometimes I'd put a load of washed clothes in the dryer, then head to work. Think I'm done doing that now
That's scary!!! Now every time I dry my clothes, I'm going to be worried about this type of shyt 
I'm not strong enough to drag a whole dryer down the stairs of my house, through the door and down some more steps. That dryer weighs twice as much as I do. did you ask the firefighters what else can be done if this happens?

I hate doing laundry, so I usually wait until Sunday night- put a couple of loads in and go to bed. I'll put the timer on the dryer and put another load in the next morning while I go about my day at work. I don't do laundry to sit around waiting for it. Do dryer sheets catch fire too??
Lost my house the same way on May 9, 2016. Dryer was old ass fukk though, shyt was from like 99 and had been dying for some time. I caught once like in the op, put it out by dumping some cleaner and filling the spray bottle with water, used that to put it out. The 2nd time i wasn't lucky.
Night before i put some clothes in and checked in the morning, shyt still wasn't dry. I started the dryer, hopped in the shower, and washed my hair. That's where i fukked up if i ain't wash my hair i would've caught it, i had long hair then. After like 20 mins i get out the shower and open the bathroom door, i smell burning. I thought it was a cheap phone charger i bought, that shyt happened before. But all the shyt looked fine. Opened my bedroom door, smoke everywhere, shyt had spread. Woke up my bro and got the fukk up out of there.
R.I.P. to my fish. They were on the other side of the laundry room getting cooked to death. Y'all would be so big now. 
I'll never forget y'all nikkas.
