I'm going to give you my honest feedback. I :salute: you for putting yourself out there, but I try to be honest instead of saying "keep it up" without actually giving my true opinion. A lot of people gas people up with no intention of supporting. I'll tell you what I truly think and hopefully you use it to make it better IF you see value in my perspective :manny:

Honest feedback Episode 1 "Why not me"

First episode...1/4 of the episode was spent on "introducing the podcast"...2 minutes is fine, but not for such a short offering.

Lots of the phrase "you know" and sucking your teeth, makes it come off very nervous. I got annoyed with the teeth sucking sound TBH

There is nothing really original about your take on "don't hate on LeBron...focus your time on something else".

For the title "Why not me" You spent VERY little time talking about "you" and "why not you"...I would've been more interested in hearing who you are, why you're doing this, what you value, etc. than hearing someone I have zero invested in talking about topics and information that I have already gotten from other more valued sources. After listening I still don't know much about you other than your name and that you think you should do a podcast because everyone else has one. I would've loved to hear about your past, why you think you're interesting. If I am going to listen to a podcast, I wouldn't want to listen "just because you have one"...I would want to listen because you are engaging for some reason.

The random Young Jeezy "Holy Ghost" threw me off

You start to gain footing after the song...but then the episode is over.

It seems very unrehearsed and unprepared (you even mentioned "I totally forgot" and then laughed about the soundcloud time limit)

Episode 1...I wasn't a big fan. As I listen I am not a fan and wouldn't see myself continuing to tune in JUST YET.

Episode 2 "Peanut Gallery, Losing Isaiah"

I like the intro and use of Bernie Mac (but you might want to be careful with using material like this without consent. It could really throw off your traction if you gain some and then catch a cease and desist)

It sounds like you would be GREAT with someone to bounce off of, but having conversations alone comes off awkward. You are (however) a lot more confident sounding in this episode off the rip than the first... you're still sucking your teeth a lot though

The transition from Isaiah to Quincy was awkward. It sounds like you're trying to be a comedian rather than just a funny person. There are glimpses when you are funny naturally, but it sounds like you are "trying" to be funny (changing the voices, talking about spilling some tea on your damn self) and it comes off a little forced

I like when you are just talking...I like when you get into "why you called this episode the peanut gallery"... I like the "hears my thing" and then that topic and your opinion on "people gonna talk" and "live your life" and "arguing on the internet and how people don't know you exist"...this is where you find a groove. It seems the most natural of anything I've heard so far.

Definitely caught a good stride with the "do you" in the middle...this is the best content you've put out (to me) of everything...

better episode than the first :ehh:

Overall:

I feel like if you had a little bit more rehearsing so you didn't say "what else" it would be more fluid. Maybe have more talking points defined, it would help you out

The random songs seemed pointless

You caught your flow in the second episode. More of that and less "trying to be funny"...

spend more time on topics and learn to transition a little better...

possibly find a co-host because it seems like you would be really good if you were bouncing off of someone else and talking to someone else. Talking to an audience directly is much harder than just inviting an audience to listen to your conversation with a friend

I would listen to more off of the strength of you posting on the coli, but I don't think if I found this podcast naturally, that I would listen to it consistently yet. The notion that "Everybody has a podcast" isn't quite enough to get me to invest in yours. Give us more "WHY" and "WHO is Shay" and "WHAT is the point" in the next episode.

Your honest, sincere feedback actually.

So I started a podcast recently:

It was an idea I came up with off a whim about a week or so ago. I've always been interested in multi-media and digital communications but never really pursued it as music had been my main interest. This is just me kinda getting my feet wet -- testing the waters some which is why this episode isn't long.

Like I stated earlier, this post is for SINCERE feedback only.

With that said, critique away.

ETA: @UG. @Versatile

I think things were more fluid this go around. Tell me what you think.

I think that your sn and this makes things sound kinda sus :dame:

Thank you. Honestly. This was very insightful and just the feedback I needed.

But really I'm not "trying to be funny" in any way. LOL. This is how I really talk - especially when I'm comfortable with someone. I wanted to freestyle the first couple of episodes to gauge strengths/weaknesses and then refine everything.

I'll take your advice and give a little more background in the next episode, and also work on being more prepared with the talking points.

I really appreciate the feedback though. Thanks again.

I think in the beginning of "building" your platform...it's going to be local listners (friends, family, coli posters) so it's important you tell us why you are doing this, make these concepts relevant and fresh and unique to you.

I don't need another podcast about the Cavaliers trades...I can get that information from somewhere more valuable.

But goddamn you might have a story about a time you had to hitchhike with a crazy person that I would be interested in because I can't get that content anywhere else
