In the comics, it happens just like that. Most of the Avengers don't get involved in any of the day-to-day stuff. They don't get involved in ANY of the X-Men problems, none of Daredevil's problems, Spider-Man is left alone, Fantastic Four deal with their own ish...it's just the way it is.

There's levels to the Marvel universe. Street Marvel is all the way at the bottom.
