Am I bugging or does it seem like people dont even really listen to modern rap like that anymore?

Nah these kids are running streaming numbers on these new dudes and drawing them in at shows like Rolling Loud

Its just things
1) No monoculture its hard to guage whats how when the source is different platforms that arent the radio and tv
2) We old lol Theres literally science research that the average person stops checking new music after 32. If you been checking after that you still a music head but even then its tough to keep when new sounds and styles make you feel old.

Respect the good & understand the bad
I keep telling myself to check out Doechii. I’ve got time today i’m going to give her a spin

I'd start here if you haven't seen it already. It really showcases her talent. I think you specifically would really appreciate her storytelling skills.

This, there are no new superstars like that in rap anyway. The newer artists kids are actually listening to arent going to be popular like a Luda or a TI was they're way more niche.

Is Roc Marci considered "modern rap?" Griselda? They have sounds that are of an older era. If you're asking if I listen to whatever the newest 16 year old drill rapper on youtube, then no. I have zero interest in that.

Underground is still going strong. Mainstream rap, outside of a very small handful of artists (namely Kendrick & Future) is pretty much complete trash and has been for a # of years now.

Griselda and roc Marciano been around for over a decade +, 98% of this board is :flabbynsick: and out of touch on what younger people are listening to and just can’t admit it.

Modern with an older style but like Ransom they been around forever.

Underground is weird because there's like a divide between lyrical underground and new wave carti ripoff underground

I think you're pretty right, besides Glorillla. Rap was pretty stagnant and there's no exciting new sound right now, mainstream rap pretty much lost the crown to pop music. The breaking to regions makes sense, because at times like this new sounds emerge from the underground and currently we are on hold until one of the regions will develop the next big thing
What kind of logic is this?

If you like music why does it matter whether it's a nationwide hit or not?

Use the Internet to find what you like then let the algorithms do the rest of the work for you

Waiting for another region to make a wave to dikkride is a wild perspective to have on music, seems like a cacish mind state on culture
