That's the problem for the Pats. Mallet is a FA next year, and I would assume some team would give him a shot at competing for a starting job. So if the Pats want to get a return on the investment they have made in him the past 3 years, they have to deal him this year.

Mallet still has accuracy issues on intermediate passes but he throws deep as well as anybody in the NFL
