Am I the only one rooting for JeMarcus Russel's comeback?

Saw a documentary on the guy and he is a real cool dude, just seemed lazy and unmotivated by the game when he first got drafted.

He donates to chairty and does a lot of community work, I think he had the talent he just simply didn't care.

Now he probably notices that one paycheck from draft day isn't going to last him forever and is noticing he can actually make a career out of the sport.

I`m all for the guy, especially working with J-Gar.

dude got $30M, people working $200k jobs for 30-40 years don't make that over a lifetime and you'd never say someone earning $200k isn't living well (if they're not debt laden)

dude deserves to try, but he does not deserve to be given another shot

leinart and carr never had years as bad as those two last seasons starting in the league.

I dont get it, if people want talk about black qbs who should have a job, shouldnt david garrard be talked about first...yet its always vince and jawalrus they sucked balls at the end and one was mental, other one didnt care for shyt...why deal with those guys if you can get a backup who shows up on time and doesnt throw tantrums for the same money ?

now david garrard, its a travesty that he doesnt have a fukking job. tarvaris could start for a couple of teams. josh johnson shouldve been on a roster this past year.

Nevertheless, you make a valid point. VY and JaMarcus aren't good examples of guys who got screwed out of a job.

The UFL thought JaMarcus wasn't a worthy QB.

I don't think he'll be given a shot after all that's happened. Maybe he can get into the cfl and make some noise there, then hopefully get a shot. I wanna see it happen just for the fukkery of it all.

The Raiders cut former No. 1 overall draft pick JaMarcus Russell three years ago, and since then no other team has brought him in. So if you figure you’ve seen the last of Russell on an NFL roster, that seems like a reasonable conclusion.

But there’s at least one person with an NFL team who believes Russell will be in some team’s training camp four months from now. Mike Freeman of CBS talked to an NFC scout who said that teams are keeping an eye on Russell as he tries to get himself back in football shape and get on the field again.

“I’ve been following his comeback story pretty closely. I think a lot of teams are. Good chance he gets a second shot,” the scout said.

What Russell has going for him is that he has great physical talent for the quarterback position, and he’s still only 27 years old. When you’ve got the talent to be an elite quarterback, you can usually find teams willing to give you a second, third and fourth shot. Even Ryan Leaf, who like Russell was cut by the team that drafted him after three years, got another shot.

Still, Russell was there for the taking in 2010, 2011 and 2012, and for three straight seasons zero NFL teams wanted him. It seems unlikely that any team would want him in 2013.
