Am I the only one that thinks football is really stupid?

Just because someone says that football is less skill oriented than other sports doesn' t mean that the sport is wack or that there isn't a some skill involved in playing the game. Compared to say basketball and baseball though most of the positions are heavily influenced by physical attributes rather than skill.

I'd say football is about 65% to 35% physical attributes over skills (outside of the qb position)
Baseball is about 65% to 35% skills over physical attributes
Basektball is almost 50 50

In basketball you need to be a freak athletically to even make it to the pros. But aside from that you also having handle on your dribble is a skill, footwork is a skill, a fade-away shot is a skill, passing is a skill, being able to score in the post, mid-range or 3 point shot is a skill

In baseball, yea being big and ripped can help you hit for power, but catching up to a 95 mph fastball is a skill, hitting a breaking or offspeed pitch is a skill. Being able to hit the ball the opposite field is a skill. On the bases having speed can help you steal bases but if you don't know to properly read pitchers and time yourself right you'll get thrown out a lot. Billy Hamilton was a rookie who broke the minor league record with like 120 steals but he got thrown out like 20 times in the bigs because although he has speed he doesn't know when to break. Same thing with pitching. You can throw 95mph but can you hit the strike zone with those pitches

In football the qb position requires a lot of skill. Can the qb throw the deep pass and the slot pass. How do they react to pressure in the pocket, how do they perform in the red zone, how well do they read the defense etc. Outside of the QB position though football is a game where the coach designs a play and you have to have the players who are big enough, strong enough, fast enough to execute the plays.

Yea there's minor details of skills like wide receivers might have softer hands than others or some running backs have more secure hands than others but depth of discussion between positions doesn't have the same depth between the non-qb postions as it does for positions in the other sports physical attributes plays a bigger role. Theres a lot of great atlhetes that play street ball but they don't have the skill to play in the NBA. Football is still a great sport its just a sport thats based more on play designs and physical attributes.

football used to be my favorite, but its getting borderline unwatchable due to all the stoppages for commercials. I don't remember it being that bad when I was a teenager, but these days its fukking ridiculous.

You got someone that throws the ball and a few others that catch the ball.

Outside of all that, it's a bunch of guys wearing tight pants running into each other.

Add to this that 90% ( everyone position except QB) of the parts are interchangeable.
About 97% of the worlds population agree with you

I don’t watch football like that anymore either because of this reason. The stoppage and commercial
