I agree. I defended Avon when one of the brehs in TFR said Avon was worse than Marlo because of his tainted heron plot.

Knowing that, I'd still rather deal with Avon. If Partlow aspired for bigger things like Stringer did, Marlo would have had him gone ASAP. It took Avon forever to cut him loose.

One, anyone who comes into the drug game as evil and brutal as Marlo did would eventually get dealt with. Contrary to popular opinion, drug dealers like making money and staying low. Not having to constantly deal with some crazy sadistic nikka killing people out in the open like a deranged serial killer. A cat like Avon or Prop Joe is who cats would prefer doing business with.

Two, there’s no way in fukk the other dealers in Baltimore would let some 23 year old kid come to the round table like Marlo did talking about the brick just doubled. With only three, four people for muscle. Lol. They would’ve took him out and quick.

There were a lot of scenes like that in the show

Like when Omar robbed Prop Joe with 2 or 3 other nikkas in the shop

I actually liked Marlo but that was the one thing I hated

Marlo still one of my overall favorite characters tho

He killed prop to be the connect, Bodie ain’t snitch but he ain’t like how Marlo was moving, he like dude put damn near everyone in a row house based off of a whiff of something perceived as wrong, he was like where’s the loyalty to your workers

I always think Avon would have been damn near unstoppable with Partlow under him. One of the major reasons Barksdale failed was because of all the weak hearted (D'angelo), overly ambitious (Bell), disilliusioned (Cutty) and incompetent (Shamrock) goons he had on deck.

Even when shyt was looking grim he was making progress with Slim.

D’angelo was getting tired of carrying the water for the family and wanted out the life, nothing wrong with that, Bell though snake like, he had his reasons, he was trying to legitimize them, and Avon was too concerned with trying to be the man, and he was snake like too

Cutty knew he wasn’t cut out for being a hitter anymore

Marlo was meant to represent the new wave of youngins who ain’t give af about the rules and were beyond paranoid, he took over quickly quietly and ruthlessly. He was ahead of his old heads in how they moved as far as being stuck in they old ways

I think Marlo was right when he said Joe would get back into trouble in no time. He'd try to sabotage Marlo eventually cause he was no controllable , not that I blame him though.

Now that's an interesting debate. Marlo didn't really listen to anybody beyond Partlow, and Partlow demonstrated enough acumen to where if he HAD to get the drop on Marlo he probably could have done it.

Honestly, they were a perfect leader/right-hand man combination from personality and dynamic standpoint.

Valid point. Marlo, if nothing else, demonstrated enough to know that if it came to defending his name/respect, there was NO line he would not cross.
