Most startup platforms barely make it to 5 years before capital runs out or people move on to the next big thing, it's a miracle YouTube's lasted this long despite the presence of other platforms like Twitch, Dailymotion, Vimeo, etc.

Though one could also say YouTube's had the advantage of being funded by Google to constantly improve in quality over the years.

youtube has been one of the most revolutionary sites in the history of the internet, that shyt was mind blowing the first time I stumbled across it as a young kid in 7th grade man, crazy to see how I'm still on it and Wiki damn near every day.

Facebook is thriving? Based on what? Yeah it's growing internationally; which of course helps to sustain it, and cover up for the fact that it's userbase here in the west is severely dwindling. In fact Facebook's been in the decline for the last year. They can't keep the youth, and the younger Millennials and Gen Z's are not gravitating to it. Facebook's UI hasn't even changed since 2012. Facebook is mostly used by businesses, and business owners given they can market to people internationally; however even that's now becoming jeopardized as Facebook is now beginning to go through, and delete business pages. Youtube actually allows people to monetize their content, and market successfully through their platform. Youtube also allows people to set up networks, and connect through sponsors to generate more earning potential. Facebook has done none of that.
