Let me preface by saying, I don't dislike Charlamagne. I know that will invalidate my opinion for some of y'all, but Breakfast Club as a platform is important because it reaches so many people and for many it's the only platform people get any kind of political discussion. Rather than being a modern day Larry King or Charlie Rose, we have celebrities like Charlamagne offering political perspectives on things that they are not really well-versed in.
A Charlamagne and honestly an Amanda Seales exist as political voices because trust in institutions has eroded to the point rather than just interview intellectuals, the talking heads offer their opinion... FREQUENTLY. Celebs in the black community being political has always been a thing, but we don't have the adjacent institutional knowledge anymore. We have people like Charlamagne and Joe Rogan who don't even have a bachelor's education being a megaphone to 10s of millions of people. Everyone deserves an opinion and a voice, but not every opinion and voice needs to be elevated en masse.
