the problem isn't gay black shows. the problem is how hard it is to get black shows green lit nowadays if it doesn't feature a gay black angle.

All stories should be told. With that said, this could be my personal biases but I don’t think black male heterosexually has been addressed with intellectual honesty in media yet.
Straight black men are generally depicted as womanizing stereotypes (in a positive or negative context) if not villains to women. No stories about the struggles of black male heterosexuality has ever been greenlit in Hollywood. No black version of ‘Californication’ or ‘American Pie’ anywhere that I can see. But this is ultimately the fault of us. We gotta write complicated stories about ourselves.
Would HBO green light a story like that? Well, my guess is no but until we push the envelope ourselves there’s no way to know.

The fukk are you talking about? Atlanta, Blackish, The Flash/Arrow, Queen Sugar, Luke Cage, and such. There are plenty of black men in current shows that aren't thugs or Tupac in a business suit.
