SINY!!
No one would take on his contract anyway, they're fukked cause they were shortsighted and overzealous to bring in a star and ended up giving Amare too many years because of that.

Real talk if I were Amare, as long as my finances were in order, I'd ask the Knicks to buy me out for like 10-15 mil and go sign with a contender, Woodson wants to sit him with Chandler and Martin fouled out, I don't care what the strategy is, going small or whatever, Amare should be out there in that situation.

Agreed on the contract. It was a panic move because they knew very well they had no shot at any of the other big free agents (it was known by some people ahead of time that Lebron/Wade/Bosh were gonna all sign with Miami, if remember correct SAS reported that at least a week ahead of their announcements that off-season). The Knicks were just trying to save face, after throwing the previous 2-3 seaons in the bushes for a "shot" at Lebron and whoever else.

To give a guy 100 million, even after his history of knee injuries, even after insurance companies refused to pick up his contract.....:mindblown: WTF were they thinking.

Amnesty or whatever it's called, and throw Stat in the bushes :birdman:

Recruit another fresh leg baller like Shump and surprisingly Copeland (just got to work harder on defense) :patrice:

Different managements, yet the same results.

To be honest, as long as James Dolan is the owner I cant see this team winning it all. I've said this in other threads about the Knicks...

If they truly want to win in the short and long term, they need to give Phil Jackson whatever he wants (Team President, minority ownership, etc). Let him put his people in place (new GM, new head coach) and let them do what they do. Unfortunately it will never happen because Dolan is a fukking idiot.

Although its a little off topic, teams want Phil but they dont want to give him that Pat Riley job he wants. If you think about it, winning as an executive is the only thing Phil hasnt done.

honest question....

how do you feel about phil's assessment of talent??

Coaching teams to championships and creating a team so another coach can when a championship with is another monster within itself..

I think its easier for former coaches, then it is say for former players (MJ, Otis Smith, etc) to make the transition to the front office. I can't see why Phil couldnt replicate the success a Pat Riley has had in Miami.

It's really all about putting the best possible staff in place (scouting, coaching, etc). Given his Hall of Fame credentials, Phil could put together an all-star front office. Any success a team is going to have is going to start with the front office and instilling a "culture" that has a trickle down effect.

The reason the Miami Heat have been relatively successful since 1995 is because of the "family culture" Riley has put in place since hes been there. Spo worked his way up from being in a tiny video room, former players have stated that Riley was always there for them after their playing careers concluded. In comparison, most NBA front offices are chaotic and drama filled behind the scenes

I think he definitely still has a passion for it. Every off-season there is always rumors of his return. He still has an itch, but I don't think he doesn't do it unless the situation is perfect.

I think his health issues, and the drama that had been brewing between Jeanie and Jim Buss over the last several years took a lot out of him. IMO, I think its just one of many reasons he would only come out of retirement if hes given control of a team.....cause that kinda shyt would be nipped in the bud by him real quick...

Using the amnesty on Billups in the final year of his deal, while they had Amare on the roster with his shoddy knees was just unbelievably stupid. And they did it to give Tyson Chandler a max contract, it's like they weren't happy with just fukking themselves over, they had to remove the vaseline.

:ohlawd:

I blame it on Dolan he wants playoff games at any cost so hes willign to sell his soul to be a middle of the road palyoff team for the next few years who cant get any better
