This dynamic happens no matter who the guest is on this show. Piers is just extremely manipulative and even consistently makes sure there are 2 more republican voices than the opposing, on top of himself.I'm so sorry, but the Black dude is a dumbass, and the white guy had good intentions, but he backed himself into a corner by shítting on the White girl's swimming career.
They both resorted to ad hominems after making fair points, which ended up invalidating their previous statements, and gave the white ladies fuel to dunk on them.
Played right into the Republican playbook:
1. Go on a right-leaning show.
2. Say something that is a blatant lie / say something that could be a moderate truth with a craaaazy statement thrown in haphazardly.
3. Have a man get absolutely livid and flabbergasted that you stated a blatant lie with supreme confidence, then that same guy throws an insult at you.
4. Play the victim card (can't blame 'em), then change the subject to get more personal, which garners sympathy from the viewers and your supporters, which also doubles as a means to essentially wipe out you getting called out and put on trial for your mostly obvious lie.
5. Talk show host, who obviously takes the Republicans' side, with visible disgust, laughter, and bolstering from the Republican side, which makes it seem like they won the debate... when they truly said nothing.

I think what Lucas did better than most for the show...is bring up things they've never really heard, and things they wouldnt want the audience to hear. I.E. the undermining of slavery and having a black daughter is something Jillian never got told to her face, you could tell she never even heard that. She may even think about it deep down. Theres no way it's not something thats gonna pop up in her head on the ride home.
Lucas's agressive and arrogant demeanor is appropriate for maga and this kinda psyopy platform. That cutting down og jeffery starr in a pretty...abrupt way, was jarring and not how they are used to engaging; again...he said something they didnt want to hear be said.
Thats what he did better than many on this show, he wasnt controllable. Which is the main goal they have.

Precisely, Political Theatre is still theatre, and you have to be in costume. To note, all the guys you brought are white dudes. Black men are still seen as "intimidating" or "imposing" in a lot of these circles, so its a double whammy (because who is gonna tell a 6ft well built dude to "shut up?")

Oh absolutely. We NEED more young, articulate, confident black dudes in this space. Were severely limited to roland Martins and such, abd they barely use marc lamont, and sometimes he can be alittle emotional.

And lucas is not a progressive far as I know. But I don’t watch or claim to know his positions enough on everything so if I’m wrong, I’m wrong.Don’t watch fd at all but yea I’m sure he does, there’s a niche for everything.
Overall I don’t think the space for progressive voices is as popular as conservative so I don’t necessarily agree with the first part but the white audience part is on point because left or right black or white, your audience is most likely going to be a heavy white audience if you’re doing numbers, sadly.
