Amazon's dead-set on killing off the grocery store, with a same-day delivery service and even a Dash gadget for restocking items around the house. Now the retailer's going one step further, taking on Costco and Walmart with a new program called Prime Pantry. If you're a Prime member living in the 48 contiguous states, you can ship 45 pounds' worth of household essentials -- in "everyday sizes," not in bulk -- for a flat fee of $6. (Yes, that's on top of your Prime membership payment.) Amazon told us the items available include "popular soft drinks and bottled water, a new range of paper and laundry products in popular pack sizes, single boxes of breakfast cereal, potato chips, convenience-sized personal care products and more." Rumors about an Amazon Pantry service began circlinglate last year, and while the service is live now, the company hasn't formally announced it.

To help you stay within that weight limit, a virtual Amazon cardboard box will show you how much room is left. While you could easily fill a Prime Pantry box with obscene amounts of Fruit by the Foot and gummy bears, the program is especially attractive for customers who want to stock up on heavier and bulkier items that don't usually ship for free. Check out a video introduction below, and find more info at the source link.

Amazon's Prime Pantry service lets you ship 45 pounds of groceries for a $6 fee

:wow: my second favorite company right behind GSDG

So basically you still pay for the stuff and charge a $6 fee to deliver? And that same day might be doubtful if there isn't a warehouse nearby or there likely is a cutoff time. And the states like mine that pay tax get charged more. I think it's good for people in certain areas where there isn't a grocery store close by. Altho it gives another option to price match with Walmart and the grocery stores. But you gotta fill your box to make it worth it and not keep getting quarter boxes every few days.

People like to see what they are buying in grocery stores, esp produce and meats, so grocery stores aint goin NOWHERE.

It also makes people even lazier than they already are though.

But cheaper snacks and canned shyt.... :patrice:
yeah I think certain things might not be able to be delivered or people may be hesitant to buy it without checking the labels, expiration, or quality.

produce, meat, bread will be sold at local town specialty stores in the future, as it was in the past with neighborhood butchers and bakers. everything else that doesnt have variable quality will be delivered to you, like ordering a pizza. theres no reason to have to shop for toilet paper in person at all.

this is better because mom and pop farmers, butchers, bakers etc will have a market open up for them suddenly which current grocery stores have been hogging to themselves. so forgive me if i dont have pity for their demise.

I will never buy fresh food online. I know that's what they will try next.

I'm very picky with my fruits and veggies.
