The absolute best way to drive traffic is through promoted listings + markdown sales. When you're making a listing, Ebay always tells you the rate + cost to promote it and I always add that into the listing price. That way no matter how the customer finds your product you always come out on top. If a customer finds my product organically and purchases it then cool. I only have to pay the Final Value Fee (FVF) and I end up making extra profit from the ad fee (+). If they purchase it through promoted listings that's cool too. I already covered the ad fees so I'm not tripping off that. I'm not getting the extras but I'm still gonna make good profit cause I used smart pricing. Either way it goes, I'm in the green.
The best thing about this method is you start off using promoted listings but once you get more sales and more positive feedback you start getting more organic sales so you can lower your price and ad rate over time. For example, I created a listing last week and started off with double the trending ad rate on purpose just to get it moving. I got one sale here, one sale there, another sale until the end of the week I had like 4 total. These were all through promoted listings but I saw I had 20 watchers. This week the sales were still spread out but my search ranking was getting higher and higher. Yesterday, I woke up and checked my phone. I made two sales in my sleep and made another sale before the afternoon. That's a few hundo. All organic. I got people messaging me a few times a day now about this listing and I have 50+ watchers. I stopped running markdown sales for it and I can lower my ad rate because I'm getting organic search traffic now. Ebay has some great tools if you figure out how to use them to your advantage.
CDs definitely sell better on Amazon than Ebay but there could be a number of things preventing your items from selling. It could be that your SEO is preventing it from being shown in front of the right people. It could be your photos or description. It could even be the competition like you said. You could be selling an item that's not popular on Ebay period and doesn't sell that often. Have you searched to see how many people are currently selling your item on Ebay? Have you checked "Sold Listings" to see how often it has sold in the past? That's stuff that needs to be done to determine if an item is even worth listing on Ebay. Just from what you told me though this is what I would do.I don't have an E-Bay store but I just have a couple products listed now under the 50 free listings plan. I did what you said for the promoted listing but it seems as if it is barely working. I"m brand new btw. I just do not get this and why its so hard to get more watchers. I'm getting views but for the 4 items i have up total its 0 watchers between all of them. By the way its just a set of scientific calculators, and three individual Cds. I'm not sure if its because I posted the latter in a competitive category and most people are on the first page but its ridiculous. This is why Ebay desperately needs an FBA program like Amazon.

- Turn on "Best Offer" if you don't have it on already
- Sell the CDs as a lot instead of using three individual listings (example title: Lot Of 3 Wu-Tang CDs Rare RAP HIP-HOP New York)
- Sell the scientific calculators as a lot. "Lot" is a keyword that will give you extra juice in Ebay search. Use that instead of "Set" -
(example title: Lot Of TI-83 TEXAS INSTRUMENT Scientific Calculators Math College School Gift).
- Run a 5-7% markdown sale. Nothing that's going to cut into your profit too much. Remember that you are not the only listing being promoted in Ebay's search results. This will make your listing more appealing and help you stand out from the pack.
- The last resort would be straight up running an auction. You can set a reserve price if you want but if you really just wanna get it off your hands instead of potentially prolonging it then leave the "reserve price" field blank
- If it still hasn't sold after all that then you should go back to square one, create three individual listings on Ebay and cross post those same listings on Amazon (Merchant Fulfilled) and Mercari
The most important thing you need to do is source for better products and list more. You can't bank your whole Ebay selling career on 5 items. Get at least 20-30+ up there and make sure their fully optimized. Really you should be trying to max out all 50 listings.
Shouldn't they be more worried about counterfeit electronics than counterfeit cds?Flipped three ATT remotes i've had since 2011 in a matter of hours on Ebay. Great start to the day![]()
Nah, this was just some stuff I been had but never put up. Finally took time to put all my current inventory up on Ebay & Amazon this weekend.from just following what Grizzly said?
