I wonder what the max will be cause apartments in LIc are already over 3K a month but the beauty of LIC is that 3K a month gives you a 5 star hotel like building compared to just a crappy apartment in Manhattan with no amenities.

if you don't own you will always be at the mercy of your area's attractiveness. if it's robust and attracting high paying jobs and you aren't qualified for one of those high paying jobs then the rents will become unaffordable for you. people got comfortable thinking that the high earners were going to take their money to the suburbs forever and leave the cities to the poor. if you've ever been on a commuter train during the morning and evening commutes you would know that couldn't last because you've never seen a more miserable bunch than people who have to commute 45+ mins each way 5 days a week.

shyt the same thing will soon apply to the rest of the country with its suburban sprawl. those congested interstates in the morning and evening (and in some places the whole damn day) will drive those with the means to reclaim the urban core and by reclaim i don't mean come and take, no just spend more money.

Even in some of the shytty Queens neighborhoods, houses are already going for over 1 million dollars. Long Island City already has an insane amount of luxury construction. Unless Amazon brings an insane amount of jobs, this won't really mean much in the grand scheme of things.
