The majority of black and Latino workers at Amazon, would of been cafeteria and janitorial services. I mean it’s still a job, but it’s not going to be the high paying ones.

I have 4 friends who work for Amazon.

One is a white lesbian i used to work with. She's an Infrastructure engineer there. The others are all black (1 Ghanaian 2 black americans i went to college with) and they are a System architect, Engineer, and project manager respectively. From what they tell me there are lots of black people in the tech jobs there. The one who's the project manager wanted to give me a referral for a job there but i just didnt want to move to the West coast at the time.

What people arent realizing is that yes Amazon will.provide high paying jobs with a HQ2 but only IF they can rape you on tax subsidies

What happens is you get the Seattle effect...a business bringing in high paid professionals who drive up the cost of living and the city not getting the tax help to fortify the local social support programs which end up being pushed to the limit to account for a new underclass (because so many yuppies move in and drive up rent, bus fares, good, etc).

I guess my perception of New-York incomes is all wrong. How do you even eat on $16K a year? I always assumed that with the cost of living in New-York the average fast-food worker was raking in about $50K+

NYC has a ton of businesses ALREADY here tho!!! I work for GE Digital now (General Electric) in Atlanta . We have an Alpharetta office and a Buckhead office.

• We have many black Engineers and developers in here.
• The Senior VP who oversees Engineering is black. His name is Chet Guess. Look him up on Linkedin.
• Some of the Directors who oversee some of the different technologies (Windows, Linux, virtualization, networking, Storage, etc) are black. Well 2 of them are.
