NEW YORK CITY
Not true at all. The only reason LIC went through Genetrification is because the LaGuardia community college bought in more residents and Jet blue airlines moved its housing units to LIC. That has nothing to do with trends. LaGuardia community college has been getting multi million dollar subsidies to expand.

Our economy in Queens have been completely dependent on two government airlines ( JFK and LaGuardia) to provide most of our jobs. It would’ve been nice to have another sector to help us out.
:mjlol: why do you keep talking as if Queens is its own city

The Democrats that opposes this needs to fall back.

AOC needs to be ousted.

Why is this a good thing when 99% of the people who are fore it wouldn’t get a job with Amazon. Do you feel this deal was the only way for the area to get investment? Didn’t the subsidies essentially wash out what amazon wanted to invest thus making it where the people would be footing the bill?

Amazing will abandon plans to build second headquarters in New York

(Reuters) - Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) said Thursday it will not move forward with plans to build a headquarters in New York after rising opposition from local politicians.

The company said it will not reopen the search process "at this time. We will proceed as planned in Northern Virginia and Nashville, and we will continue to hire and grow across our 17 corporate offices and tech hubs in the U.S. and Canada."

The company had begun considering alternatives last week. The online retailer has not yet acquired any land for the project, which would make it easy to scrap its plans, a person briefed on the matter told Reuters on Friday.

Amazon had announced it would create 25,000 jobs and build one of two new headquarters based in the Long Island City neighborhood in the borough of Queens, just across the East River from Manhattan.

The proposal ran into opposition from local politicians who opposed the $2.8-billion in incentives promised to Amazon in a deal secretly negotiated by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.

The company said "for Amazon, the commitment to build a new headquarters requires positive, collaborative relationships with state and local elected officials who will be supportive over the long-term."

Really shows how these corps. are just fishing for stuff with this hq stuff.

This article was written back in November. I wonder how many more people went through with getting a home in New York.

"Joining the rush were at least three Amazon employees who recently bought homes in Long Island City."

"Several Amazon workers expressed interest in studios and one-bedroom units, generally priced below $1 million"

"On Friday, an Amazon employee based in Seattle made a deal to buy a one-bedroom condo at the Craftsmen Townhomes, a low-rise development in the neighborhood"

"One-bedroom condos at the Craftsmen are listed for $800,000 to about $1.2 million."

"at least 15 units have gone into contract since the Amazon plan was disclosed—despite a price increase of about $20,000 per apartment that went into effect last week. He said prices will go up after another $20,000 price increase due to take effect this week."

Ask anybody who grew up in the projects ( myself included) NYC doesn’t do shyt for anybody in the projects. At least Amazon had investment in job training in for queens bridge.

That’s what frustrates me the most. These nikkas don’t even live out here and telling us what we need.

It’s ridiculous to think residents of Jamaica and Hollis were going to benefit from Amazon. There’s zero indication HQ2 would benefit black people. I don’t understand that argument at all
skilled workers would benefit.

amazon should have renegotiated the terms...they just flat out pulled out
