Yea, I'm getting that feel, this case is not as easy as it appears.
I think Texas has a version of stand your ground. With affirmative defenses like this, it muddies the water. Its relies on the subjective mind state of the perpetrator rather than the surrounding circumstances and if it was actualul reasonable for her to be in fear of her life or actual bodily harm.
It doesn't matter if it was not her apartment but the thought it was her apartment is enough for self defense to work in this one
This is not clear cut murder because I dont think the criminal intent is there and she has the self defense too on top of it too.
Its wild and People may be upset but I think I know how this will play out

A civil suit by the family against the police department for negligence by having her work 40 hours in four days is the more likely way to get some justice here.
