Think a group of people who came over here and killed the native population give a fukk about taking an island brehs
Thats what I don’t understand about Hawaiian locals.

Yeah it was “stolen” but so was everything else.

And if the US hadn’t done it some other country would’ve and probably do worse.

This is the only thing between the US and the rest of the pacific. If war pops off this is the states first line of defense for the western states. If Japan or something had dominated Hawaii then say goodbye

Also, I don’t understand the issue they have with this fukking telescope either. The “Sacred land” already got THIRTEEN other telescopes on it... and Nasa already paid them for the land

Nasa paid who for the land? And how much? Your mentality and humanity has been colonized, and now you sound just like a CAC.

The fukking local government gets paid for the land, idiot

fukking google or something. This shyt has been in the process for over a fukking decade

In 2008, the TMT corporation selected two semi-finalists for further study, Mauna Kea and Cerro Amazones.[43] In July 2009, Mauna Kea was selected.[43] Once TMT selected Mauna Kea, the project began a regulatory and community process for approval.[44] Mauna Kea is ranked as one of the best sites on Earth for telescope viewing and is home to 13 other telescopes built at the summit of the mountain, within the Mauna Kea Observatories grounds.[45] Telescopes generate money for the big island, with millions of dollars in jobs and subsidies gained by the state.[45] The TMT would be one of the most expensive telescopes ever created.[45]

  • In 2010 the Governor of Hawaii signed off on an environmental study after 14 community meetings.[44]

And again, there are THIRTEEN other telescopes on the same area. This was approved BY Hawaii and paid TO hawaii damns near 10 years ago. It's a telescope, not a fukking bar or something... strictly for advancement of science and funded by multiple countries while you're on your "CAC" bullshyt

side with settlers brehs
LOL

And what is not "siding" with them gonna do, nikka?

I swear y'all love to hate the facts. Hawaii got/gets paid for those telescopes. The big telescope isn't even JUST funded by "settlers", other countries have invested in it as well... along with the other telescopes in that area..

If they want the sacred land back (that they shouldn't have sold in the first place), then return the money.

University of Hawaii also gets funding for being the ones that operates some of them.

nikka

the government made the decision, not the fukking people who have a problem with it

Hawaii getting paid don't mean shyt to the people there getting priced out their native land by wealthy and Japanese developers

LOL

The LOCAL government approved of it...

Then they had over 14 community meetings and they discussed and voted on this...

Hawaii getting paid means EVERYTHING... where tf are you nikkas from? the Big Island benefits from their funding and the sacred land it's on has housed other telescopes for over 50 years.... The land is LEASED aka PAID TO HAWAII.... Just like military bases are leased and bring in revenue for the state.

The Mauna Kea Observatories (MKO) are a number of independent astronomical research facilities and large telescope observatories that are located at the summit of Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi, United States. The facilities are located in a 525-acre (212 ha) special land use zone known as the "Astronomy Precinct", which is located within the 11,228-acre (4,544 ha) Mauna Kea Science Reserve.[1] The Astronomy Precinct was established in 1967 and is located on land protected by the Historical Preservation Act for its significance to Hawaiian culture.

And there are multiple countries that own telescopes on that land, not just the US and "wealthy" nikkas Japan. You nikkas need to read and stop being so fukking stupid. More local people in hawaii voted for this than protesting it... They are even having anti-protests about it

BTW, I hope you fools know that we were maybe like 15k miles away from getting hit with an asteroid just last week. that's closer than the moon

That asteroid was big enough to destroy a city and we almost didn't see it before it passed. Guess what those telescopes do in Mauna Kea better than any other telescope observation on the planet. They're not just for star gazing....

I get that the land is "sacred" but it's also protected, on top of that the state of Hawaii has been leasing it before the 60's if I'm not mistaken.
