American Gangster was better than Scarface

I admired Frank Lucas 100x better than Tony Montana, which made the movie better in my opinion. American Gangster Scarface

Frank was smart, more classy. He knew to stay low key and off the map. And in the end he still got out to live the rest of his life. Most would call him a snitch, but those same people ain't never been about that life. Denzel had all them Italian and police cacs hating him too

Tony Montana was arrogant, dumb, and got high clouding his judgement. I imagine he got to where he was only because Miami was way more reckless. Though Tony had way more cops after him.

all these descriptions of why one character is more professional than the other does nothing to explain why one movie is better than the other.
By this logic any movie where character has fewer flaws is automatically better than a movie about a flawed character.

Being better than Scarface ain’t really that high of a bar. ‘Face for sure one of the GOAT movies but it’s more about the energy, vibe and time period more than it is the actual movie I feel like. American Gangter was pretty good, but it ain’t on the level of Scarface tho.

I'm not going by the movie. I liked Frank Lucas more, so for me it was the better movie

I can't remember one Frank Lucas quote but I can remember random Scarface quotes. Maybe it's because it stays getting sampled in rap songs. "okaaaay I'm reloaded!" "This town is like one big p*ssy waiting to get fukked!"

Denzel was still great in the movie...but I had extra high expectations for AG but it just didn't hit the mark for me....but it was still pretty good just not what I expected....prolly would've been better if Fuqua had stayed on as the director
