Surprised that BOTH were listed as "comedies", I think there was plenty of drama in both. It's kinda strange that the Globes did that...almost feels political

That movie came out before I born too but I love Scorcese films and I did research all of his films when I became a huge fan of his.

I found American Hustle to be the, better overall movie as well. The comedy was subtle and smart, offering mild chuckles well within the story line. WOW, was bombastic, idiotic and I felt the need to leave my reality at the door. If it was based on a true story, someone told a lot of lies.
About an hour into the movie some chick(around 23/24) came out crying because of how "offended" she was

With the Globes, it always is. Having that said, WoWS is pretty much a comedy, they just didn't use the typical comedy format. I haven't seen American Hustle yet but I've heard similar things about it. It's funny enough to be called a comedy, it just doesn't go about it like a typical comedy.

While WOW had more laughs, American Hustle overall was a better acted and better paced movie. You can tell the Golden Globes felt that way since they nominated the director, leading and supporting cast plus gave it a screenplay nomination. Also, while neither are in the same vein as slapstick comedies (Anchorman) they are much less full on dramas (Gravity or 12 Years). I think they got it right with Leo as Best Actor too.

how the fukk WASN'T Wolf a comedy? That movie was fukkin funny. I had a smile on my face for 3 straight hours.
AH - I've never checked my phone more during a movie. People are citing "subtle" humor bc they heard someone say it. there was no subtle humor, it wasn't even remotely funny. the actors looked like caricatures, maybe that's the comedy im missing. movie was boring as fukk, so naturally it was a "smart" movie. gtfo How was AH a better paced movie? there was no pace, it was a mess.

Wolf was funnier but I like American Hustle better overall. Wolf really was not interesting enough to justify the length. Both great movies though.

The microwave scene was funny but I honestly had forgotten all about it until you brought it up again. I think the argument from me is that mildly humorous scenes like this one are peppered into an otherwise totally forgettable movie for me when it's all said and done, whereas I was dying from minute one to the end of hour three watching WOWS, not only that, I have numerous favorite scenes from watching it and it has much more memorable dialogue between the characters than AH.
