"Cooked" is interesting. I mean, France got cooked in the wake of the American Revolution and the 7 Years War, and popped up just to colonize African and get rich again.
America's military power always will keep it in the conversation just like France and China.

But what can easily happen, is it becomes the UK. A former global power that's just kinda chugging along off the backs of its former colonies and functioning as Europe's bank.
Nations don't just up and vanish. If anything, America Balkanizes, but even then the federal system makes it hard for those red states to come off the titty.
