Nationless people like that really are everything at once (AA, Island, Caribbean) and nothing.

Thats why the conversation about identity formation is important.

Liberia is a case, where descendants of former slaves, adopted everything from their slave masters, and tried to re-create that on another place. Basically what people from São Tomé and Cape Verde have been trying to do, unsuccessfully, in Angola for years. Force native angolans to adopt iberian costumes, just because most of them are descendants or mixed with iberians. And send most of our money to Portugal.

I mean, it's why we're naturally very wary of light skinned black people over here. Yet colorism is still very much a thing, even though people front.

I consider the ones who didn't live to see/go through reconstruction and jim crow as early stage aframs who were more scattered/varied in their experiences and cultures. The modern Afram is when all of those experiences and regional cultures came together as one which was heavily influenced by the jim crow era.
