Sucks out here for real. Thank God my parents were smart with their money, house is paid off, pops is sitting nicely in retirement, mom is 3 years away from retirement, and they have major bank sitting in their savings and 401k. I'm trying to aspire to that level, worst case scenario though, I know I won't ever be homeless since the paid off house will belong to me.

It's just working poor now..

Those manufacturing jobs are overseas... those auto plants are overseas... these other companies are getting rid of high salary management positions and replacing with 2 supervisory positions with lower pay..

People living check to check nowadays..
And college loans are not helping the cause anyway....

Competition will only get greater as the population grown and companies learn to do more with less.

You have to strive to improve your skill set everyday...not necessarily degrees in school but just read and self study. Be well rounded.

And people forget to do the most POWERFUL thing in getting ahead. NETWORK, NETWORK, NETWORK. Meeting people and networking with them is invaluable and much more important than school.

If you have a large rollidex of contacts in higher places you will never be without opportunity.
