AN ENTIRE REGION LOSING ACCENTS, LIKELY DO TO GENTRIFICATION OR MASS TRANSPLANTS TO/FROM DIFFERENT CITIES, IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN 1 PIG ON TV CHANGING YOUR KID'S WHOLE ACCENT.

You're wrong. There's proof of all American accents being dulled into sounding more like the general American accents brought on by decades of mass media. Kids always learned to speak from everything around them, never just their parents.
they're not slick, they want their kids to have the accent and during the years when their child is absorbing the most info this is what they waste that valuable time on.
SIGH... 1 PIG SHOULD NOT HAVE MORE INFLUENCE THAN EVERYTHING ELSE AROUND THEM COMBINED. NOT ENOUGH TO CHANGE AN ACCENT. EVEN MOVING TO A WHOLE DIFFERENT REGION DOESN'T ALWAYS CHANGE A CHILD'S ACCENT.
