Cost of living and low wages kills savings for most people under 30. I'm under 30 and make 90k and my rent $1,400 a month to live in freakin' Newark NJ. If I had a child I'd be f*cked. Lower the rent so less fortunate people can actually save money.

My folks don’t have a 401k but have property in other countries and a country to go back to. It’s their saving grace tbh.

They own their home and it’s worth a good amount.

How can you save when every time you turn the fukk around it's some new bill or expensive shyt that you need to buy to keep you afloat... plumbers, fixer uppers in your house, car maintinence... and now let's not even taking into account the tax increases in the future..

A big help for me was to pay myself first. A good way to save money to deduct it from your check if you use direct deposit, have an amount you'd like to save pulled from your check to a savings account automatically. Your job will be able to help you set this up.

Like others have said prices continue to go up but wages stay the same . .even the slightest hint of wage increase and company's talk about using machines and mass layoffs.
