I've lived in both (US & UK), but as a black male I'm not fighting over any country that hates me, so all that historical shyt is irrelevant considering black people were still enslaved.

As for the metric system, it's what each country uses, there is no right or wrong.

I do agree with the American poster who made the point about British-English though. I hate having to spell out 'colour', 'realise', 'centre', etc.

There's things I prefer about America over the UK and vice versa, but I'm hoping to leave here in the future and move to either the Caribbean where my fam is originally from or South America.
