Being reliable only to your current company is an LAs an employer i will be honest.
Hard work is appreciated. It makes us see you as reliable.
The problem with being reliable is you don't always want to lose that reliability. its a double edged sword.
They person you know you can count on to keep your payables current and organized will be lost to you if you promote them to asst controller. And have someone less reliable take their place. At least for smaller corporations this is the case. For places that have no lack of talent recruitment pools, you can most certainly climb the ranks fast from hard work.
Example being the hardest working player on a team like Ohio State is gonna see fruit of his labor.
But the hardest working librarian, is just going to have excellent job security, and nothing else. You not gonna eventually be made head librarian of the library of congress simply for being the hardest working Librarian ever, somebody with connections will be appointed that job.
In today's current job market, your skills have to be transferable, so if your job is on some bullshyt you can tell them to kiss your ass and dip
