A lot of younger people have likely grown up with deteriorating infrastructure, so it probably seems less egregious to them
Older Republicans can probably hark to a time when their suburban streets were always perfectly paved and any potholes were instantly patched up.

Excellent point. Especially people in metropolitan areas.
