You guys blame it on corporations. I blame it on the current structure of the education system. Which is influenced by corporations so that argument isn't completely off base.

Our system of elite education manufactures young people who are smart and talented and driven, yes, but also anxious, timid, and lost, with little intellectual curiosity and a stunted sense of purpose: trapped in a bubble of privilege, heading meekly in the same direction, great at what they’re doing but with no idea why they’re doing it.

I experience people like this all the time.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
most consumer products consumers buy aren't produced in this country
the stock market and tech industry enables people to become millionaires without creating a product or even selling a good or service
you have apps and tech startups with valuations that make them more valuable than corporations that actually make and sell goods and have been around for decades.

Taxes are not the answer.

We should lower corporate taxes..but also need to make sure these huge american companies arent abusing ridiculously low corp taxes in different countries overseas by putting a building with one worker in it. They are evading billions in taxes by doing so. Its tax evasion through loophole

Some African countries have these 10 year tax-exempt grace periods. corp sets up shop and after 10 years move to another country that does it. Rinse and repeat.
Intellectual Property is one of the biggest loopholes that's exploited. The Netherlands either doesn't tax IP or has a really low tax rate on IP. Companies then have shell companies that hold their IP incorporated in the Netherlands and then Sell the IP license to themselves in the states, it allows them to manipulate how much profit they're making according to the books.

That's by design.

Increasing the tax rate placates those politically on 'the left', while the loopholes keep those on the 'right' content enough to get the legislation passed.

Its all a political game.

I see what you are saying, but i think its more bi-partisan to close these loopholes. They arent loopholes for this country, its for companies here to claim corp revenue in ireland and get taxed and pay to ireland not to the US. Its not like a loophole that lets people to write off certain things or declare it as something different than what it is by clever accounting but still pay the totality of it to the US

Natural progression of capitalism. Competition is stifled and only the best of the best rise to the top, where they will be bought.
