I went to St. Paul's School-linked, which is an elite boarding school and what’s called a feeder school, pretty much a direct pipeline to Ivy League schools and other top institutions (Stanford, Duke)-with no exaggeration, over half my class of ~120 matriculated to just the 8 Ivy Leagues, myself included.

I still get asked about my experience there on interviews and I’m 35. Definitely great connections and opportunities/networking.

I didn’t go back to regular life per se afterwards but coming home on breaks was a tale of two cities style, grew up poor.

Classes were challenging and everyone was really smart, we had classes 6 days a week plus sports and extracurriculars, art, study abroad opportunities, you name it.

Almost 10% Black good deal.

I attended boarding school, had no idea Black ones existed/still operated.
GIRL!

I had to attend an all-white prep school and that shyt was a horrible experience. The lifetime/worldwide network will definitely aid me as I age, I won’t lie, but this would’ve been a preferred experience.

I remember when it was time to apply for college and it was hell because all the white kids basically said we all got into our universities because of affirmative action. 😡
There were many heated moments junior-senior year.

It's strange to me that there are only four Black boarding schools in the U.S. There is a decent (we need more, of course) number of Black day schools, and I assumed that there would be a decent number of Black boarding schools, as well.
Great work as usual, @DrBanneker. If you don't mind me asking, do you work in education?

Thanks. Nope I am not in education. I own my own business (food manufacturing) but have a huge interest in Black education given my mom and grandma were teachers and I come from an extended family of chock full of HBCU grads....though I have to finally admit I am one of the few Black sheep that went to a PWI.

I am going to make sure my kids give HBCUs serious consideration though. Trying to take them to homecoming at either Lincoln, Delaware State or Morgsn State this year.

Did your parents simply just send you off to school? Granted the experience would still be annoying but i tend to observe lotta black parents just send their kids off into these situations and think thats enough and then the kids tend to grow up weirdos or take to the internet to learn what it is to be “black”

Any stats on % of students they get into Ivys/top technical focused universities?

Sorry if i missed it

From the Niche.com self-reports on colleges, it seems the bulk of students end up either at HBCUs or state colleges. They get their kids into college but they are not Ivy League feeder schools.
