An overly reductionist article, the article was sent to me a couple of days ago and I was not impressed with the arguments put forward. The core reasons we are in our current situation involves racism but is also the result of :
- The risk and fear of losing social status which leads to an increase in status anxiety
- Ignorance or apathy regarding the role of complex important institutions, allowing for the narrative fallacy to become prevalent.
- Distraction and increased emphasis on convenience.
- Technological stagnation which has led to growth being etched in debt instead of innovation.
- Improbable and misguided aspirations, primarily among the working class. Again with easy access to credit/debt helping foster bad investments.
