Look she may not the greatest singer but so what? She managed to align herself with a dope producer in Rich Harrison and together they made some classic records, which was copied by many others at the time. 1 thing is a true definition of a great single it's about sample, drums the catchy lyrics that make it so recognisable and still remembered and talked about two decades after it's release.
I hear you and I do not know much about her history as when she came out I was into other acts.
No BS I never found her startlingly beautiful as back then we were truly spoiled for choice. I only remember that song which I personally found annoying compared to the vibes I was listening to at the time. I was into that India Arie, Goapele, Jerzee Monet and etc and etc. I mean a high selection of well cooked music it was sweet.
All I heard about Amerie never was with music. Her attitude this or she did that or the 'One thing' record was written for Beyonce and just gossipy sh1t. She might have been left behind with the Jerzee Monets and Goapeles but due to her "prettiness" and her willingness to go in the provocative lane we might not have heard from her.
She is pretty and can sing then I hope to hear great music but thus far I haven't really heard anything I like from her. She is young and life will give her much to express through her arts so I am sure we will still hear some great music.
