Rode it from Michigan to Chicago to LA. Took two days. Met a lot of cool people and saw a lot of cool stuff. Bring your own food cause they be taxing on that bih. Only use the bathroom when the train completely stops because it shakes like crazy sometimes. You can stay in the observation cart at night because it's uncomfortable sleeping around the other people. Just make sure the staff doesn't catch you sleeping though.

It's expensive and slow. The only trains I ride are foreign and high speed. I'll be riding the KTX in South Korea this weekend...$75 for a first class seat on 3 hour train ride that would be a 5.5 hour drive.

Amtrak is doo doo, I haven't ridden that shyt in like 7+ years. Slower than the Bolt Bus and 4-5x the cost. What's the fukking point of them existing anymore.

It's decent I don't enjoy driving distances so I'll take it when I'm traveling long distances that aren't quite flying distance. Only annoying thing is stoppin in each and every little podunk town.

In the Northeast? Yes, the Amtrak terminals in the Northeast are usually smack dab in the middle of the downtown area of each major city. Its comfortable and reliable.

Amtrak is :trash: outside of the Northeast though

Insignificant posting from an insignificant poster
What a fukkin' coincidence.

Last friday, friend of mines asked me to take an impromptu trip to PDX (from Seattle) with him and hang out with some friends.

The ride was nice (no homo)... Although i've lived in the northwest my entire, a train trip invites an entirely new experience as you get to see landscapes and scenery that you would have never witnessed otherwise.

Brings a whole nother perspective in your state that only a locomotive can deliver. It's beautiful (especially it being a sunny day on Saturday here, the spectacle was amazingly bonerific to say the most).

And for 45 bucks each way... shiit is a deal.

Would do it again and take a lady with me... prolly make it an evening trip for the lovers package. You deeg?

I used to catch the Amtrak all the time between NY & DC. I loved it!

When I moved to Orlando, I caught the Amtrak Auto Train and loved it! On the way down, the train was filled with Snow BIrds. On the way back up, it was way less people so I had more space and could eat in peace.

Raleigh by way of Crooklyn
I last used Amtrak to ride from Raleigh to Charlotte to pick up a car. Wasn't bad.

My mother used to love taking it from NY to NC to come visit us before she wound up moving here. It was never on time. Guarantee whatever arrival time was scheduled, it would always be like an hour late. And then during the summer, for some strange reason, the trains will just stop and wait. They gave some strange reason for it but I can't remember what it was. Something to do with the heat. :martin:
