Because he very likely killed babies and other innocents

Logically speaking would you want a child killer in your neighbourhood?

No... But that's MY NEIGHBORHOOD.

The biggest reason I'm jaded when it comes to this is because I'm an OIF/OEF vet. That part of the world is and will probably always be in conflict for one reason or another.

So why bring it's over here and make it our fight, especially if you're black? Everyone wants us to dive head first into their issues but when it's our issues they have to "wait for the facts".

Serious question: Can someone tell me why would y'all celebrate this one way or the other?
I genuinely don't care if it's Palestine or Israel.

Where was this basic humanity for George Floyd or Breanba Taylor or Sandra Bland? George Zimmerman is still strutting the streets like his shyt don't stink. Black man can't get a job because the fukkin' idiot in office would rather blame the labor statistician than actually try some policy.

All of this is happening here, in the country YOU live in. I'm not excusing what either side is doing and my heart goes out to those casualties of war, but my concern is for for the sanctity and betterment of black people here in this country.

Imagine thinking what happens overseas isn’t connected to what happened back home.

This is a mural of George Floyd in Gaza, 2020. Keep in mind, these people were still getting killed by Israelis and still had the empathy to show solidarity with black America. They were even sharing tips about how to protest and what to do against tear gas; because the same tactics used against them are used against us HERE. The same IDF killers there train OUR police officers HERE. The same tax dollars you give our government HERE goes to kill their people THERE. There has been a long history of solidarity of black people around the world with Palestinians. This didn't just start 2 years ago. You can be a black man in america who recognizes the bullshyt we go through here AND show solidarity, do what you can, to end what is clearly a genocide happening in Palestine. Chewing gum and walking at the same time is not difficult.

:unimpressed:

  1. Nelson Mandela and the ANC
    • Nelson Mandela and the African National Congress consistently supported Palestinian liberation, drawing parallels between South African apartheid and Israeli occupation. Mandela embraced Yasser Arafat in 1990, calling him a comrade in arms.
    • In 1997, Mandela declared, “We know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians.”
    • In 2023, South Africa filed a genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice.

    • Stokely Carmichael (Kwame Ture) and SNCC members were hosted by the PLO.
  5. 1970 Appeal by Black Americans in The New York Times
    • Signed by 56 Black activists, it condemned US support for Israel and declared complete solidarity with our Palestinian brothers and sisters.
  6. Ferguson Uprising (2014) and Mutual Aid
    • Palestinians tweeted advice to Ferguson protesters on resisting tear gas, coining slogans like From Ferguson to Palestine, occupation is a crime.
    • Bassem Masri, a Palestinian-American activist, was prominent in the protests.
  7. Black Lives Matter and Palestine
    • BLM Chicago faced backlash for supporting Palestine in 2023, stating We stand with Palestine and the people who will do what they must to live free.
    • The Movement for Black Lives 2016 platform called Israel an apartheid state, leading to accusations of antisemitism.

  • Activists highlighted shared experiences of police violence and militarized repression.

That’s a cop out. I don’t think they traveled out of their way to find this guy. They just realized he lived in their neighborhood and got busy. There needs to be consequences for actions and that’s across the board. No different than finding out your next door neighbor is a rapist and y’all gather the boys to let them know they aren’t welcome there.
