I subscribe to the school of thought that countries should be self-sufficient. The last thing Nigeria needs is NATO/UN/USA intervention. First off Nigerian elections are in a month. Goodluck Johnson has to downplay criticism of Islam and the north to court their vote. He's a pretty shytty guy anyways but right now he's more concerned about the drop in their currency and low oil prices and elections than a massacre in a rural part of the country.

Internationally: oil prices are down so Nigeria becomes increasingly unimportant on the world stage. They are growing but right now not a major player in anything. France is now going to play a more active role in the fight against IS.

I'm as sympathetic as any of you folks but these analysts were talking about action on the world stage and, right or wrong, 12 in France is (and trust me I know how terrible this sounds) more important than 2000 in rural Nigeria. Don't go blaming them for larger global political realities.

Nigeria is one of the richest economies in Africa and if the leaders wernt such greedy fukks that only care about their own pockets and actually invested in bringing boko haram down im sure they could.
