This map only denotes the largest ancestral background in a county.... Solano County, is the county where the largest ancestral background is African American.... NOT Alameda County....which just so happens to have a predominant population of mexican descent.


and for the record, LA has 3x as many blacks as Oakland does.

A lot of White Southerners simply identify themselves as "American" (for instance the ones who have family who were among the first to settle the county where I live at are mostly of German descent and while acknowledging this identify as simply American from what I have seen since they have family that has been here for close to three centuries)

True, but if you check the history Germany there is a lot of overlap among Germanic tribes, they are closely related some Germans retain the von/van depending on the part of Germany they are from especially bordering the Netherlands.
