This has much to do with gentrification in my opinion....they vandalized spike lee's old home in BK after his comments about gentrification (which obviously got under people's skin cause of the truth behind it).

Seriously (and sadly), thanks to living here I have completely dismissed the fact that white interlopers, transients, transplants, hipsters...whatever care at all about diversity or living around blacks, browns, or other people of color. It's just a show for them and they only care about diversity for superficial and aesthetic purposes. Realistically, they don't want us here anymore. They even refer to ethnic white new yorkers and native new yorkers as "leftovers". They can't wait until they are all gone and they can rebuild/remake the city in their classist/racist image.
